Objectives
The inter-university PhD programme in Translation, Professional Translation and Audiovisuals offers doctoral students the teaching and research experience acquired by the teaching staff of multiple centres of the University of Valladolid and the University of Alicante, who have come together to train in advanced research tasks in the different fields of translation and interpreting and the audiovisual sector.
This PhD also develops the knowledge and skills needed to join the teaching, research and professional world in today's society.

Translation:
- CE1 Ability to know the specialised bibliography and online sources of information in the fields of translation and interpreting.
- CE2 Ability to have a broad knowledge of the main contemporary trends (polysystems, functionalism, cognitivism, pragmatics, post-structuralism).
- CE3 Ability to systematise and interpret data scientifically.
Professional field:
- CE4 Ability to apply theoretical assumptions to the analysis of translations and the resolution of translation problems.
- CE5 Ability to master advanced computer environments for translation.
- CE6 Ability to master advanced editing and proofreading techniques.
- CE7 Ability to translate specialised texts of a high level of complexity.

Audiovisual Translation:
- CE14 Ability to assimilate the communicative purpose of audiovisual translation.
- CE15 Ability to detect the specific cultural elements of the cultures present.
- CE16 Ability to know the main theoretical and practical elements of audiovisual translation.
- CE17 Ability to go deeper into the analysis and theorisation of translation specific to the audiovisual medium, both for dubbing and subtitling.
- CE18 Ability to link the translation process to cinematographic language, contributing the existing theorisation on the shot and editing that make up cinematographic syntax.
- CE19 Ability to study the subordination of the translation process to the information transmitted by the visual channel.
- CE20 Ability to open up new lines of research and expand existing ones on this translatological specificity.
